Me

About me

My Name is Robert Spiller.  I was born on the 29th of May 1957.

I am a Reiki Master/Teacher/Practitioner based in Maidstone Kent In the Southeast of England

Although I have always been spiritual, I didn't really start to acknowledge it until 1996, when I underwent a life threatening  operation, that I was only given a 5% chance of surviving.

It was whilst recovering from that, that I started to acknowledge the spiritual side of me.

My first steps involved attending a physcology and personal development course at adult education.

When that course had finished I then went on to a Tai Chi course, with a friend made on the first course. The Tai Chi master (Michael Low) was talking about a Reiki course that was going to be held by some one he knew. I was persuaded by a someone else at Tai Chi to attend the course,

so in September 1998 I became involved with Reiki.

Has Reiki changed my life? The simple answer to that is yes. It has helped me see things the way I now do.

On this page I will tell you  about as my teaching and healing detail 's , as well as my views on certain subjects within Reiki. They are based on my spiritual beliefs (as I believe everyone's view of Reiki is or will be) and will not necessarily correspond with everyone else's view.

Reiki Treatments

If you live in the Maidstone area and would like a treatment from me, please contact me

Each treatment lasts around 1 hour (but it could take longer). I will try and work to your schedule, time wise (when you would like the treatment )

I do not promise or offer miracle cures (No good Reiki practitioner should)

Cost  £30 for an hours + treatment, but concessions can be made for those on a low wage or out of work. Money is not a barrier to receiving  Reiki.

I do not currently offer Indian head massage or Magnified healing as a treatment , but might be persuaded to .

Reiki Training

I do prefer to work in small groups of up to 4 people, but will work on a one to one basis, or with larger groups as well if that is required.

These day a lot of Reiki workshops contain things that aren't true Reiki and were not in the original teaching. Whereas some of these things do have a lot of relevance to the way Reiki is today, to my mind they can detract from the pure simplicity and beauty of Reiki.

Reiki 1 class schedule  (A very brief outline)

  1.  Introduction and meditation

  2. What is Reiki.

  3. The Reiki Principles

  4. History and was Reiki rediscovered?

  5. How Reiki works

  6. Levels of Reiki.

  7. Other issues in Reiki.  In this bit I cover some of the things that have been added on and seem to be a part of modern Reiki. I feel that if a student want to integrate these things into their Reiki practices, then they should have the option to.

  8. Ethics

  9. Touch issues

  10. Reiki treatments

  11. The hand positions

  12. Other Reiki techniques

After that there are the attunments and lots of Reiki treatment practice, then discussion, questions and answers etc, then some more practice.

The workshop is spread over 2 days and a comprehensive manual and certificate are included.

For prices and to inquire about classes  please contact me.

Reiki Masters

I see Reiki master training as more of an ongoing thing. Workshop wise it can be spread over anything from 2 to 5 days and then some days after that.

There is a lot to cover i.e. The attunement process, teaching, preparing manuals and certificates as well as the some more advanced techniques.

If you would like to talk to me about training  please contact me

My Thoughts on

Reiki and religion. Permission. Distant Healing Distant Attunments

The different styles of Reiki Reiki is an intelligent energy. Reiki knows where to go

Taking responsibility for our own healing.

  • Reiki And religion.  Reiki is not a religion.  It transcends religion.
The way I explain where the energy comes from is that it comes from source. Now how can I define source. If I was a Christian, I would probably say that it comes from God.
If I was of another Religion with a God or Goddess, I would say that it comes from them and so on.
The way I describe where it comes from leaves it up to you to put a name on it (I hope)

  • Permission. Some Reiki people say that as long as you ask a persons higher self, and their higher self accepts, it is ok to send reiki to them. Others look at it as a matter of the free will of the person to accept or not and as such they should be asked in person. I have been on both sides of this, whilst firmly believing that the second option is the only way to go (They should be asked in person) I along with countless other healers, sat there and beamed reiki/healing at the World trade centre in the 9/11 incident.
One argument that is very much used by the asking higher self side, is "How would you ask a baby? "My answer to that is that you wouldn't, you would ask a parent or guardian if it was ok, in much the same way as a medical Doctor  would.
There is however another way . If you are being Reiki all of the time, then the reiki energy is there in your energy field. That way, in much the same way that you make energy transactions all of the time, the Reiki is there for others to take, in much the same way as your own energy is as well .
This may take some understanding, but I will give a brief explanation. Are there people who when you are with them who drain you, leave you feeling tired etc. They want energy, if reiki is there to be taken, then they can take it freely. It is them taking it and not you saying take it. It is a complex subject.

  • Distant Healing. This works. I do them.

  • Distant Attunments. Now if distant healing works, then it follows that distant attunments do as well. I choose not to do distant attunments (Unless there is no other way). Why? Well with a distant attunement I can not give the training that I would in an hands on workshop. There is more to the training than an attunement and the hands on experience is far more rewarding (I think) than doing it all at distance or from a book.

  • The different styles of Reiki. I can not keep up with all of the different styles of reiki there are these day.
Is one any better than another? Well probably no. They may have more symbols or different techniques, They are all valid.
Some may even tell you that "they are the best" or "more powerful than Usui Reiki ".
Many people chase the different styles, perhaps in the hope that it will make them better healers.
Does it work? Well a lot of it is ,If they think they are better and it gives them more confidence in what they do, then it may.
For myself, I prefer to work with what I have (Usui Reiki) and learn to use it to it's fullest potential, some thing that may take me many lifetimes.

  • Reiki is an intelligent energy. This is something that gets said a lot about Reiki.
It does all depend on your definition of intelligence.  Human type intelligence can  not be attributed to it, no more than you would attribute intelligence to water.  Although at a microcellular level water does have memory. But does memory make something intelligent.
If you look at Reiki in a more universal way, then perhaps it does have intelligence, but I have yet to see either proof or hear an explanation that  rings true to me.

  • Reiki knows where to go. Another saying that you will hear a lot. In some ways it ties in with the intelligence thing.
If Reiki knew where to go, why when we give a treatment do we change hand positions, also if it did know, what exactly is our part in it?
Reiki energy , In much the same way as Chi flows around us following the meridians (Traditional Chinese medicine describes these. Acupuncture being a good example, along with shiatsu) in much the same way as water will follow the path of least resistance.
So does water know where it is flowing? It follows the laws of gravity. It has no preconceived idea of where it is going, so there fore in my thinking doesn't actually know where it is going.
I am open to being proved wrong thou.
